- Biography
Brazillian-born, now Belgian acquired citizen, Igor de Camargo is a Belgian international who currently plays as a striker for Standard Liege.
He moved from his native country to Belgium in 2000 signing for Racing Genk when he was just 17.
He found goals hard to come by during his early career at Racing Genk whilst adapting to Belgian football. However, it was to be his move from Racing Genk to F.C. Brussels in 2007 that proved the pivotal moment in his career so far. F.C. Brussels gave Igor the opportunity to play regularly and he rewarded them with a tally of 14 goals in 28 games.
Igor's impressive form in his first season for Brussels impressed Standard Liege who were quick to sign the player who has since gone onto prove he can excel at the highest level with consistently strong performances on the European stage in the Europa League.
At 6ft 2, Igor is a player with an impressive frame who excels in the air and on the floor. Igor's goalscoring ratio over the past 4 years is just better than 1 goal in every 3 games and is considered to be one of the best forwards currently plying their trade in Belgium. He also has an impressive assists tally and is particularly effective playing in the number 10 role.
