Rostyn is gifted young Centre Back that is equally effective playing in Centre Midfield where he spent most of his early years as a scholar and young professional.

At 6'3, Rostyn has all the attributes to become a Socceroos defender, perhaps future captain and unusually for someone with such a tall frame, he is good technically with both feet and very comfortable on the ball.

He was scouted at an early age whilst playing in Australia before subsequently being signed by Blackburn Rovers FC in England in 2003. He impressed at youth level and as a result he was called-up by the Australian U17 side despite there also being significant interest from the Welsh youth set-up due to his dual nationality.

Whilst at Blackburn, he went on-loan to both Gretna and Accrington Stanley where he went straight into their first-teams and made significant contributions in both cases. Despite that, on his return to Blackburn he never made a senior appearance for the club and decided at the end of his contract to return to Australia.

After a brief spell at Adelaide United, he signed for A-League newcomers North Queensland Fury FC where he played alongside former Blackburn teammate Robbie Fowler and scored the first competitive goal in the club's history before appearing in almost every game for the club in their inaugural season.

In March 2010, A-League side Central Coast Mariners FC signed Rostyn on a two-year deal with his new manager/national team Assistant Coach Graham Arnold highlighting Rostyn's ability on the ball as being a great asset to his new look team.
