Australian international, Dean Heffernan is an experienced left full back/wing back currently playing at Huddersfield Town.
Standing at 6ft 1, Dean has a good frame and utilizes it well - In addition, he is extremely agile and uses his explosive pace to exploit opportunities going forward and equally to nullify opponents in the same measure.
Dean is a natural left footer that likes to get forward and put crosses in. It is that, among his many other attributes, that saw him named in FourFourTwo magazine’s A-League dream team in 2005 after he scored 8 goals in 24 games in his first season at Central Coast Mariners.
Unfortunately, during his time at Nurenburg in Germany and the Mariners, Dean suffered a broken leg and was unable to fulfil his obvious potential in the Bundesliga so returned home where his recovery and subsiquent form resulted in his first call-up to the Australian national side at the age of 28 and bagging his first international goal in his second Socceroos game.
Dean has since been in the thoughts of the national coach despite his policy of preferring to select European based players and he played and scored in Australia's draw with Kuwait in January 2010.
In order to push for a World Cup place, Dean needed to pursue football in Europe and thus, left the Mariners in January 2010 to join Huddersfield Town on a short-term deal until the end of the English season when he hopes o be on the plane to South Africa.
