Alex never fails to excite crowds when playing. Pace, technical ability and clinical finishing has seen Alex equally adept playing up-front or in wide positions.

After impressing at Marconi Stallions in the early stages of his career, Alex burst onto the international scene in 2004 when he gained his first cap for the Australian national team and was signed by Dutch club, Feyernood.

Despite a disappointing time marred by injury at Feyernood, Alex was quickly back on his feet returning to Australia in 2005 to Brisbane Roar where he picked up the Reebok Golden Boot that very season in the A-League.

In 2006, Alex signed for Sydney FC, where he has since been their most consistently impressive performer and for the past three years he has consecutively won the club's Player of the Year award.

In the 2007/2008 he was the club's top goalscorer, likewise he provided the most assists at the club in the 2008/2009 season and his outstanding form during the 2009/10 season has seen Alex rewarded with a recall to the Australian national side.

Alex was selected for the last two international matches in 2010 but due to injury and the birth of his first child Christina respectively, he was unable to play in either game.

At 26, Alex has matured as a player and is better equipped than ever should he return to play in Europe.
